Least Cost Routing
LCR or Least Cost Routing is an important use of multi-carrier
routing and, therefore, a huge advantage to using an
independent Resp Org.
LCR can save you money. How much depends on what is negotiated
with carriers. Your negotiating power is based on your volume
of minutes, time-of-day concentration and geographic
distribution of your markets. For example, a carrier may offer
a better rate in Indiana, on weekends, after 5:00pm or in
certain NPA/NXX’s.

Disaster Recovery
Caution. The SMS system does not register traffic and
cannot sense an outage. Therefore, if you are using a
“spare” carrier for backup in case of disaster, it
is necessary to tell us to move the traffic from the carrier
that is down to the other carrier.

Toll-Free Mapping
A number of ATL customers have large toll-free maps of over 20 lines of routing instructions. Some of our customers have mapping instructions of thousands of lines. Some mapping instructions are so complex they bump against the SMS limit of approximately 30,000 lines of NPA- NXX’s.
